David’s Life In Review…

"So David fled and escaped and went to Samuel at Ramah and told him everything Saul had done to him.” 1 Samuel 19:18

“David fled from Naioth in Ramah and came to Jonathan…”1 Samuel 20:1

“So David hid in the field....” 1 Samuel 20:24

“David went to Ahimelech, the priest at Nob.” 1 Samuel 21:1

“One of Saul’s servants, detained before the Lord, was there that day. His name was Doeg the Edomite, chief of Saul’s shepherds.” 1 Samuel 21:7

“So the king said to Doeg, ‘Go and execute the priests!’ So Doeg the Edomite went and executed the priests himself. On that day, he killed 85 men who wore linen ephods. He also struck down Nob, the city of the priests, with the sword – both men and women, children and infants, oxen, donkeys, and sheep.” 1 Samuel 22:18-19

“Then David said to Abiathar, ‘I knew that Doeg the Edomite was there that day and that he was sure to report to Saul. I myself am responsible for the lives of everyone in your father’s family.” 1 Samuel 22:22

“David fled that day from Saul’s presence and went to King Achish of Gath.” 1 Samuel 21:10

“So David left Gath and took refuge in the cave of Adullam.” 1 Samuel 22:1

David’s decline

“… David also swore, ‘As surely as the Lord lives and as you yourself live, there is but a step between men and death.’” 1 Samuel 20:3

David’s deception

“So David told him, ‘Look, tomorrow is the New Moon, and I’m supposed to sit down and eat with the king. Instead, let me go, and I’ll hide in the field until the third night. If your father misses me at all, say, ‘David urgently requested my permission to quickly go to his town Bethlehem for an annual sacrifice there involving the whole clan.’ If he says, ‘Good,’ then your servant is safe, but if he becomes angry, you will know he has evil intentions.’” 1 Samuel 20:5-7

“David fled that day from Saul’s presence and went to King Achish of Gath.” 1 Samuel 21:10

David’s deliverance

“So David left Gath and took refuge in the cave of Adullam.” 1 Samuel 22:1

The Signs of Deliverance

David cared for his parents

“From there David went to Mizpeh of Moab where he said to the King of Moab, ‘Please let my father and mother stay with you until I know what God will do for me.’” 1 Samuel 22:3

David consulted the prophet

“Then the prophet of Gad said to David, ‘Don’t stay in the stronghold. Leave and return to the land of Judah.’ So David left and went to the forest of Hereth.” 1 Samuel 22:5

The Steps In Deliverance

David sought The Lord

“I sought the Lord, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant with joy; their faces will never be ashamed.” Psalm 34:4-5

David shared his heart

“This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him from all his troubles.” Psalm 34:6

We come to God and ask forgiveness – we turn from the sin – being sorry enough to quit it and turn from it

The Source Of Deliverance

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them.” Psalm 34:7

“Taste and see that the Lord is good. How happy is the man who takes refuge in Him!” Psalm 34:8

“The Lord is near the brokenhearted; He saves those crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
